10 Questions to Ask Yourself At Mid-Year

The good news is you’re the pilot”

Don’t Wait Until January to Reflect on Your Path

July 2nd marked the middle of the year.

On the one hand, that seems about right – I mean, here in Toronto, we had a loooong-ass winter and finally, finally, summer has arrived.

But, on the other hand, it feels perplexing. Wasn’t it just New Year’s Eve, like… a few weeks ago?? How exactly is it that we’re now closer to 2020 than we are to 2018?

In his book, “Atomic Habits,” writer James Clear explains that the beginning of a new year makes resolution-setting more appealing because the time of year signifies HOPE. It feels hopeful to be on the precipice of a new page, a clean start. And by catching this ray of hope, we get inspired to dream again, to articulate some changes and intentions.

But since we now find ourselves smack dab in the middle of the year, I suggest we find more hope and power right NOW. If you’d like to join me with this, take a pause – ideally in the warm breeze, with a nice cup of coffee, under an umbrella – to reflect on where you are, and make sure you’re on track to land where you set out to in 2019. Here are 10 questions to get you started.

10 Awesome Questions to Ask Yourself NOW

  1. What goals or intentions did I set for 2019?

  2. Am I on track to achieve them?

  3. Am I still committed to the same goals? Is there anything that’s no longer a priority that I want to cut from my list?

  4. What have I done really well over the past six months? What am I really proud of?

  5. What habit or behaviour from the past six months is holding me back? How can I let that go?

  6. What’s have I learned about myself so far in 2019?

  7. What’s the top priority, burning goal for the next six months?

  8. Why is it important to me?

  9. What is my next big step?

  10. When and where will I take this step?
